About the Artist: Timothy H. Widener has spent the greater part of his life working in his studio, studying art in the outdoors or within one of the world's great art institutions. Although landscapes and figurative work amount for the majority of his work, any subject may motivate the artist to create an image. Important to that creation, however, is that the intuitive emotion within the mind of the artist be realized visually on canvas. Classically taught, the artist believes fervently in the importance of plein-air based studies and life-drawings--as opposed to photographs or other mechanically created source material--to produce a work, as well as a firm grounding in the history of art and the various methods and theories put forth by past objective and non-objective masters. Besides being a member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists, Widener has for the past 25 years devoted his time to the study of the human form and its representation in a unique and personal manner. He is represented in Michigan by Treeline Gallery in Sutton’s Bay. |
